FGCU at the Military Heritage Museum: The Golden Age of the East and the House of Wisdom

The Dark Ages in western Europe corresponded to a Golden Age in the East.This lecture will examine Al-Ma’mun’s House of Wisdom, the greatest library of antiquity and then turn to the eastern giants of science and mathematics before looking at art and literature in the Islamic Golden Age, concluding with a tale from the Thousand and One Nights.
